How is the price of a coach determined ?

There are many factors that influence the price of hiring a coach and as such this is not an easy answer. Each of the following points are considered in determining the cost of hiring a coach………

• Supply & Demand - as there is only a set amount of availability as demand increases so does the cost of hiring a vehicle
• Seasonal fluctuations – there are peak periods within the year when there is a greater requirement for vehicles. Traditionally, peaks occur around Easter, the latter part of the school summer term/on into summer and also pre Christmas.
• Duration of hire – how long you require the vehicle for
• Mileage – the distance that will be required to travel
• Size & quality of coach required – the larger and more luxurious the greater the cost
• Regional variations – certain areas of the country can command a higher rate due to supply/coverage factors
• Ability to undertake other work between requirements
• Amount of notice of requirement

Do I need to confirm passenger numbers at the time of requesting a quote ?

Yes, please be as accurate as possible. We need an accurate number of anticipated passengers to ensure that the quotes offered are for vehicles that can accommodate your whole group. If you are unsure of your final numbers we suggest adding a small buffer onto your anticipated numbers as vehicle capacities can not be overloaded and must be strictly adhered to.

What size of vehicles are available to book ?

Vehicles can typically be split into types dependent on the seating capacity……

• Minibus: 8-16 seats
• Midi Coach: 17-33 seats
• Coach: 49-53 seats
• Double Decker: 60-80 seats

This information can however only be used as a guide as within the coach industry there are some vehicles that fall outside the above seating capacity but are still referred to within the category. For clarity, we will always tell you the passenger capacity of each vehicle within a quote. Read our vehicle page for more information.

Do I need to inform you of luggage that we intend to take ?

Yes, it is essential that you advise at the quote stage of any luggage that you wish to take on your journey in order that we can ensure sufficient capacity is available to carry all items.

How long is my quote valid for ?

As is standard practice all quotations are subject to confirmation at the time of booking.

What are drivers’ hours regulations ?

Drivers’ Hours are European Union regulations that govern the working hours of coach drivers. The regulations set out the periods of non stop driving, daily driving hours, break periods, weekly/fortnightly driving hours and daily/weekly rest periods. In providing quotes to you all the coach operators will have given due consideration to these regulations and factored in any costs, such as a second driver if extensive driving is required.

Should I tip our coach driver ?

This is entirely discretionary. If you feel that you have been provided with a good service a gesture is always very much appreciated.

Can I have copies of the operator licence, public liability insurance and vehicle insurance certificates for our coach operator as I have a risk assessment to complete ?
