Pope Benedict XVI Set to Tour the UK During September 2010

Dated 18/03/2010 by J Wood

The BBC has announced that Pope Benedict XVI is to tour the UK this coming September. In what will be an historic visit, the Head of the Roman Catholic Church will begin his tour by meeting with the Queen in Edinburgh.

The four day tour will see Pope Benedict XVI make public appearances in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, the West Midlands, Coventry and London. The public are expected to travel en mass to witness this historic event, so where public transport is likely to become overcrowded and possibly even overwhelmed by the volumes, those looking for a more luxurious way of reaching the various locations at which Pope Benedict XVI will be appearing should consider alternative transportation in the form of private coach hire.

Security is understandably going to be a very important aspect of Pope Benedict XVI's tour; however, His Holiness will be making numerous public appearances.

As well as meeting with the PM in London, the Pope will conduct a mass in Glasgow at Bellahouston Park. A lottery-style ballot system is thought to be employed for the distribution of up to 150,000 tickets, which will be made available to the public. In addition to comfort and convenience, any church group considering travelling to this event should see considerable cost savings by travelling in a group via private coach hire rather than individually by car or public transport, avoiding the crowds and the challenge of finding a parking space.
