Never Mind the Bride and Groom... Guests Spend £380 a Year going to Weddings!
A recent survey has revealed that wedding guests spend on average £380 a year on wedding expenses. The research, carried out by Santander, has identified the staggering cost of joining a friend or relative on the big day. This amount includes buying wedding presents, paying for accommodation and travelling to the destination.
Whilst the bride and groom can expect, on average, to spend a staggering twenty thousand pounds staging the wedding, the bulk of the cost for their guests is to cover travel and accommodation – so in light of these revelations, wedding guests may want to consider that travelling in a group by private coach hire is often a more cost effective solution - and rather more fun to boot
Stag and Hen parties can also mean an expensive night out, as more often than not, modern Stag and Hen nights involve travelling around the country. Again, choosing a budget friendly option, such as private coach hire for your stag and hen party transport, can go a long way to cutting costs and adding an extra dimension to the event itself!
Other costs that wedding guests incur involve buying a new outfit and paying for drinks at the wedding / reception party. In the current climate, as the country edges out of recession and the future remains as uncertain as the composition of the next government, brides and grooms planning their big day this summer will need to consider guests' pockets in deciding upon the venue and scale of the ceremony.
