Get Me A Coach... To The Prom

Back in the good old days when kids left secondary school they had a leavers assembly, wrote 'tags' and slogans on each others shirts and had a sixth form school disco. The school disco was a painful affair, with girls on one side, boys on the other, seriously bad hair styles, crimes against fashion and an enough hair gel to keep Superdrug in business for at least a year! None of the cool kids attended, choosing rather to spend their time hanging around outside, sniggering at their class mates and mocking their teachers.
Nowadays, this has all changed. Thanks to the influx of MTV style American School fly on the wall documentaries, kids have replaced the school disco with the 'Prom'. The Prom is a very serious event, that involves parents splashing large amounts of cash, on gowns and outfits, fake tans, hair extensions and modes of transport.
The pressure heaped upon parents and kids is enormous. The need to 'out-do' your peers can stretch to helicopter rides and horse drawn carriages! Luckily, some schools take a more sensible approach. School coach hire to transport the kids ensures that everyone arrives (and gets home) safely and also means that kids don't have to compete quite so hard with one another.
The Manchester Evening News recently ran an article discussing the financial pressure 'these end-of-term' events can heap upon families. One school in Salford was cited as an example for others to follow. Putting budget and safety first, it organised school coach hire to and from the venue – a move greatly welcomed by parents and teenagers alike!
