Coach Welcome Scheme Arrives in Liverpool for Summer 2010

Private coach trips to Liverpool are to receive a warm welcome upon arrival in the city thanks to the local councils new 'Coach Welcome Scheme'. During the Summer of 2010 those arriving at Liverpool Cathedral by private coach hire can look forward to a personalised welcome from a "team of enthusiastic and well-trained hosts".

The meet and greet team will welcome tourists as they step of their coaches by handing out free maps of the city centre. In addition, they will provide information about events, attractions and things to see and do, in and around the city. The team of specialists will also make passengers aware of toilet facilities, refreshments and tours of the Cathedral.

Drivers of private coaches to Liverpool will also be welcomed with free refreshments, provided with coach parking tips and will be informed as to any road works or traffic disruptions that may interrupt their journey.

The free Welcome Scheme will be running throughout the summer up until October, 2010. Full details can be found on the Liverpool travel and trade website and booking requests can be made via the Liverpool Cathedral website.

City Ambassadors will be available for booking between 10 am and 5 pm each day and bookings can be made in advance or on the day of travel. It is estimated that at least ten thousand people will benefit from this unique pilot scheme and if successful, it will be rolled out to cover various other coach pick up and drop off points, as well as other popular tourist attractions, throughout the city.
