Boost For Tourism As Belfast Welcomes New Coach Park

A new coach parking facility has been opened in the City of Belfast, offering a secure and safe place for coaches to park up. Cited as being essential for 'tourism and the local economy', the new Belfast Coach Park (BCP) is located near Corporation Square (beside the old SeaCat terminal) and has been constructed with the support of Federation of Passenger Transport Northern Ireland (FPTNI).

The site offers spaces for forty coaches – comprising thirty five large coaches and five medium sized coaches – and it will be open throughout the year. For convenience, private coach hire firms can book parking spaces online in advance, with the option to choose either short or long term parking, or overnight parking at the facility.

Security at the coach parking facility has been given due consideration, with a twenty four hour CCTV camera system installed on-site.

The Belfast Newsletter has also revealed that contingency plans and procedures have been set up for emergency situations. These include coach driver relief, breakdown assistance in emergencies and even a local cab company providing a shuttle service to and from the coach park.

With nearly ten million people visiting Belfast each year, this new facility has been warmly welcomed by coach drivers and tourists alike. Prior to this coach parking facility being set up, private coach hire operators have had to make do with limited parking within the area. Coaches visiting the city have had limited parking choices which have included College Square North (six spaces) and Glengall Street (two spaces).
